FASHION TRENDS THAT WERE POPULAR IN THE 80’S, 60’S, AND EVEN 40’S HAS COME BACK AND NOW FLOODS RETAIL STORES TODAY.

GREASE, TOPGUN, AND INDIANDA JONES BROUGHT THE BAD BOY IMAGE TO THE LEATHER JACKET.

THE LEATHER JACKET THAT WAS MADE POPULAR BY THESE MOVIES AND SHOWS IN THE 60’S IS BACK ON HIGH DEMAND.

LEGGINGS WERE ALSO A FAD.

MEN AND WOMEN USED LEGGINGS AS FITNESS WEAR AND TODAY THEY ARE WORN LIKE JEANS.

IT FADED AWAY IN THE LATE 80’S BUT NOW GIRLS FROM AGES FIVE TO WOMEN IN THEIR 30’S LOVE THEM.

A MORE SURPRISING FAD THAT ROSE FROM THE DEAD IS SHOULDER PADS.

YES, THEY ARE BACK IN STYLE.

WOMEN WORE CLOTHING WITH SHOULDER PADS TO LOOK MORE MASCULINE BECAUSE MEN WERE MORE SUCCESSFUL.

THIS WAS CALLED POWER DRESSING.

DESIGNERS LIKE DOLCE (D-OL-CHAY) AND GABANA AND ANNE KLEIN (C-LINE) ARE FOLLOWING THE TREND.

WHO KNOWS, YESTERDAYS FADS COULD BE NEXT YEARS NEW FASHION TRENDS.

MILPITAS BUDGET

THE FUTURE OF CITY OF MILPITAS EMPLOYEES IS NOW LOOKING GRIM.

BUDGET PLANS TO FIX MILPITAS’ DEFICIT IS THE MAIN TOPIC OF DISCUSSION IN THE MILPITAS COUCNIL MEETING.

A MEMBER OF THE TASK FORCE AND CITY MANAGER TOM WILLIAMS BRINGS FORTH HIS IDEAS TO MILPITAS MAYOR BOB LIVENGOOD AND COUNCIL MEMBERS.

WILLIAMS WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RAISE IN SALES TAX, INCREASE PROPERTY TAX, INCREASE FURLOUGH DAYS, AND REDUCE BENEFITS.

MAYOR LIVENGOOD DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS WILL PLAN WILL WORK BECAUSE IT IS NOT ENOUGH.

COUNCIL MEMBER ARMANDO GOMEZ AGREES WITH THE MAYOR AND FEELS THAT A LOT OF IT IS BUILT ON HOPE.

MILPITAS RESIDENT BRIAN CREECH DISAGREES WITH THE TASK FORCE’S BUDGET PLAN BECAUSE HE FEELS IT WOULD DRIVE AWAY CUSTOMERS BY RAISING THE SALES TAX AND DRIVING RESIDENTS OUT BY RAISING PROPERTY TAXES AS WELL.

CREECH SAYS-QUOTE-THE REAL DEFICIT BEGINS WITH OVER PAID CITY EMPLOYEES.

MAYOR LIVENGOOD PREFERS LAY-OFFS BECAUSE IT IS A QUICK FIX AND DOES NOT NEED VOTER APPROVAL.

JOBS CAN BE LOST BECAUSE OF THE FAILED BUDGET PROGRAM THAT IS BEFORE THE COUCNIL.

DECISIONS HAVE NOT BEEN FINALIZED AND THE BUDGET DEFICIT PLANS WILL CARRY ON TO THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING.

MISSING HORSE

THE OWNER OF THE MISSING HORSE IS GLAD TO KNOW IT HAS BEEN FOUND ON HIGHWAY 17.

THE 22-YEAR-OLD ARABIAN HORSE NAMED STAR WAS FOUND NEAR A HOME AND WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO A LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER.

THE OWNER, TEN-YEAR-OLD ATHENA MUZUMDAR AND HER FAMILY WERE ABLE TO PICK UP STAR.

STAR’S HEALTH IS NOT IN THE GREATEST SO THE HUMAN SOCIETY WAS RELUCTANT TO LET HIM GO.

SHE IS UNDERWEIGHT BECAUSE OF MANY MISSING TEETH.

NOW STAR IS UNDER A VIGOROUS DIET AND IS NOW GAINING WEIGHT.

THE SKINNY HORSE ESCAPED FROM SUZANNE CRISTALLO’S LAND, WHERE STAR IS TAKEN CARE OF.

OREO, ANOTHER PONY THAT STAYS ON THE LAND, OPENED STAR’S GATE AND STAR TOOK OFF.

CRISTALLO SAYS-QUOTE-HE KNOWS HOW TO UNDO ALL THE GATES UNLESS YOU CHAIN THEM.

ATHENA TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITY OF STAR BY SEEING HIM EVERYDAY TO FEED, CLEAN, BRUSH, AND EVEN CLEANING STAR’S STALL.

NOW THAT STAR IS RETURNED TO HIS OWNER, ATHENA IS VERY HAPPY.

EARLY THIS AFTERNOON, TWO DEATHS HAVE OCCURRED NEAR THE AMTRAK STATION.

AMTRAK SPOKEPERSON, SAID-QUOTE- THE TWO VICTIMS WERE HIT ON THE INTERSECTION OF CARLSON BOULEVARD AND OHIO AVENUE.

THE TWO DEATHS HAVE NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED NOR THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE DEATHS.

FENCES BY THE ACCIDENT HAD NOT BEEN ENCLOSED.

PASSENGERS ON THE TRAIN WALKED BACK TO THE STATION TO BOARD ANOTHER TRAIN.

TRAINS REOPENED LATER IN THE EVENING.

Last night, American Idol unveiled its 2010 two-hour show that unexpectedly went on for another 30 minutes. It seemed as though it was all put together just a couple days before or the show had no rehearsals. President Barrack Obama and Michelle Obama opened the show by addressing the people who are in need and cracking a few jokes about the show. The entertainers of the night included Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, The Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige, and Elton John. Alica Keys performance lacked charisma and was kind of painful to watch, Carrie Underwood was great as usual and so was Mary J. Blige. The real purpose of the show was to give America a telescope into different parts of the world that is suffering from malaria, cancer, and even starvation. Having the performs do their thing on stage was great, however, the transition from their performances to these really sad clips of the children did not seem right. For the majority of the show it was filled with little kids who were obviously malnourished and sad. The story that had touched my heart and even brought a tear to my eye was the very last story of a 7-year-old girl who was born with HIV and weighed as if she was a 1-year-old. They visited her recently looking like a more healthy girl that was happy.

Personally I had thought that because of the economic crunch the money that would be donated would be very little. Simon Cowell appeared at the end of the show and in the span of two hours they had already made over $15 million. We will forgive American Idol for serving a show that lacked organization, but I would commend them for the great difference that they are making in these childrens lives. Some of the charities that they give back to are Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and United Nations Foundation. What is another great thing about this is that people are often scared of donating money because they are not too sure of where the money will go. Every dollar that is donated goes directly to these charities, and every cent does really count in saving a child’s life.

Because of American Idol Gives Back thousands of lives have been saved.

AS THE MANHATTAN METRO-NORTH COMMUTER RAILROAD LOSES POWER, A SQUIRRELL SKURRIES ALONG THE LINES.

WHILE THE SQUIRREL CLIMBED UP ONTO THE POWER LINES ON MONDAY AFTERNOON, THERE WAS A POWERE SURGE THAT CAUSED A WEAKENED BRACKET.

THE TRAIN WENT ON IT’S NORMAL ROUTE AND THE LOOSENED BRACKET GOT A HOLD OF IT TEARING DOWN THE POWER LINES, WHICH CAUSED IT TO LOSE POWER.

OVER 47,000 PEOPLE WERE AFFECTED AND WAITED FOR HOURS FOR THE RAIL THAT NEVER CAME. SERVICE CREWS RESTORED THE RAIL BY TUESDAY MORNING.

AS FOR THE SQUIRREL, IT GOT ELECTROCUTED AS IT TRIED TO RUN FOR ITS LIFE.

Focus Story Structure

Football player, Pete Stenhoff, a junior attending Chula Vista High School, was hurt in his senior year because of a cracked vertebrae.

Stenhoff rammed his head into the ball carrier’s chest, which left him confined to a wheelchair and did not graduate with his class. He is trying to get his diploma by taking correspondence courses. Stenhoff is not bitter, “I wish I would have known just how bad it could be.”

Stenhoff was one out of the 20,000 injuries that happen during football in high schools each year. He was not one of the thirteen youths that passed away but was one of the 12% that is permanently disabled. Thirty-five percent of the injuries are to the neck or the head and most critics blame the helmet.

To some it is important to be up to date and current with the trends of fashion. I will follow the trends for this spring and upcoming summer.

I will go in depth with trends and comparing high-end brands versus cheaper clothes. Comparing different brands of the quality and the price that it is given is something that I will also talk about. For the short info box I will show and compare the prices of the clothing, and for the broadcast segment I will shoot a video comparing the quality of the clothing.

Big Rigs

Never have I felt so humiliated in my life before. I always thought that it would not happen to me, but I learned accidents could happen to everyone.

I was driving to my boyfriend’s work to drop off some lunch. I have never been to my boyfriend’s work before so I trusted my iPhone to guide me to the place. Unfortunately, trusting the iPhone was more of a headache than guidance because it was telling me to make rights into residential areas and a ton of U-turns after every other street I was on.

Already irritated, I wanted to make a U-turn into the Valero and just head back home because I wasn’t getting anywhere. I was behind a big rig and as it was turning into the gas station there was a parked UPS truck so it could not fully make its turn. I knew the big rig was going to have to back up so as I was trying to get into reverse I look back up and the rig was closer than I thought and had started backing up much faster than anticipated. Before I knew it he was backing up onto the hood of my car while I was trying to back up myself and honking all at the same time.

Everything happened so suddenly and I felt like I had no control over the situation. It was like my life flashed before my eyes. Forever will big rigs traumatize me.
